Sparwood Market Manager 2025

Embark on an exciting journey with Sparwood Farmers Market Society as the Market Manager, playing a pivotal role in championing local artisans and fostering a vibrant community hub. Dive into administrative planning in May and work with the board to lead dynamic markets throughout the summer.

Position Highlights:

Schedule: 

June 1st - June 24th: 5h during the week of admin with an additional day on June 8th for Coal Miner Days [5 additional hours on June 8th] 

June 24th - September 6th 15h/week: 9 hours/week (3 hours for 3 days during the week, 6 hours on Fridays from 1:30pm-7:30pm

Administrative Planning: 5 hours/week (flexible) from early May to September 2024

Workspace: Candidate to provide their own workspace/computer/internet access

Compensation: $18/hour

Skills and Qualifications:

 

  • Organization: Exhibit strong organizational skills and professionalism.

  • Communication: Possess excellent public relations, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Independence: Capable of working independently and making informed decisions.

  • Driver's License: Hold a valid driver's license and have access to a vehicle.

  • Tech-Savvy: Proficient in basic computer skills, with expertise in Facebook and Email.

Key Responsibilities:

 

> Market Management: Oversee vendor applications, set up/take down, and vendor communication.

> Online Presence: Manage the Sparwood Market Facebook Page and email communications.

> Event Coordination: Execute on-site tasks, vendor fee collection, and vendor attendance tracking.

> Community Engagement: Collaborate with local authorities, chambers, and other stakeholders.

> Innovation: Contribute to sustainable funding ideas for the annual market.

 

Additional Duties May Include:

 

> Recruitment: Attract new vendors and promote Sparwood Market at local events.

> Marketing: Design and distribute promotional materials, including handouts and posters.

> Networking: Liaise with community entities and attend Sparwood Market Board meetings.

> Digital Presence: Regularly update the market's website and community event pages.

 

Board Policies:

 

Absences: Acceptance of 1-2 absences for markets with advance notice, with alternative coverage arrangements.

Dates: The position would start May 1st, 2024 starting with just the admin hours then continue with key market dates of June 28th to September 6th with full hour weeks and with an additional 8 hour day on June 8th for Coal Miner Days.
