Sparwood Market Assistant 2026

Are you looking for a fun summer job that gives back to your community? Join the Sparwood Farmers Market Society as our Market Manager Assistant! You’ll work alongside our Market Manager to support local artisans, farmers, and foodies while keeping our vibrant community hub running smoothly.

Note to Applicants: We welcome applications from candidates ages 14 and up! This is an excellent way to gain your first bit of professional experience in business, marketing, and event coordination.

 

Position Highlights

  • Dates: June 26th – September 6th (Fridays).

  • Special Event: One 8-hour shift on June 14th for Coal Miner Days.

  • Schedule: 5 hours per week (2pm – 7pm).

  • Compensation: $18/hour.

  • Location: On-site at the Titan in Sparwood, BC.

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Age Requirement: Must be at least 14 years old.

  • Reliability: Show up on time with a professional and helpful attitude.

  • Communication: Comfortable talking to vendors and helping visitors with questions.

  • Physical Ability: Able to assist with the physical set-up and take-down of market equipment (tents, tables, signs).

  • Transportation: Must have a reliable way to get to and from the Titan in Sparwood.

  • Tech-Savvy: Basic knowledge of Facebook and Email to help with social media updates.

 

Key Responsibilities

As the Assistant, you are the Market Manager’s "right hand." Your tasks will include:

  • Market Logistics: Helping vendors find their stalls and assisting with tent set-up and take-down.

  • On-Site Tasks: Helping collect vendor fees and tracking which vendors are present each week.

  • Social Media: Taking photos during the market to post on the Sparwood Market Facebook page.

  • Community Spirit: Greeting visitors and ensuring the market area stays clean and welcoming.

 

Board Policies

  • Absences: We allow 1–2 planned absences for the season (for family vacations or camps), provided you give us advance notice so we can find coverage.

  • Timeline: Your first day will be the Coal Miner Days shift on June 14th, followed by regular Friday markets starting June 28th.
